Toasty noggin

Voila! A lovely hand embroidered beanie for Erik's birthday present. Must make sure the boy's noggin is warm and toasty (yes...even in July...in Southern California...geeez) :) The design is one that he drew many moons ago...long forgotten in a sketchbook...

Happy Birthday my love!

A flying pig for the baby boy!!

So, I finally finished painting the frame for my pig in flight. It was pretty labor intensive, but I think well worth the effort :) The frame is an old wood one inherited from my grandmother's "art stash". I cut it down, primed it and painted it with acrylics. That's one baby room art project down...only a half dozen or so more to go...stay tuned...

Mom sketch

This is a quick sketch of my mom based on a photo from my baby book. She was lying in a hospital bed in labor with me at the time the photo was taken. She looks pretty calm, huh? I thought this would make a nice jumping off place for a painting at some point...

Fruit Bowl

So, my mom and I went to lunch the other day and ended up at one of those ceramic painting places. Voila! A fruit bowl!

And, the fruit bowl in action....

I'm back...

I've been away for far too long. Here are a few projects I've been working on...

There's a baby boy in there!! My most ambitious creative project to date :) I expect to wrap this one up around the first week of October. Can't wait to see how it turns out!

I actually finished this duvet cover several months ago but I haven't posted any pictures of it yet. I'm really happy with the finished product. It looks great in the bedroom and seems to be holding up to our tossing and turning!

I've been busy making artwork for the baby's room. I just finished this flying pig painting (because glorious things can happen when pigs start to fly) and am working on the frame. I think a monkey king is next :)

My friend and I were playing with fimo clay the other day and I made this lovely flower magnet. Fimo is wonderful for days when you just need some instant gratification. I see many more fimo days in my future :)

Stay tuned for more fun projects! I promise not to stay away so long....

Two happy girls

My beautiful girl, Maggie...

...and a picture of me drawing....

EDM #139 and an old one...

This is my sketch for the "draw something with a handle" challenge. The two mugs are these funky little mugs that my very conservative grandmother gave me one Christmas with a great teapot to match. They are very colorful...I should probably add some color later....The chest in the background is a beautiful wooden chest from Pakistan.

The drawing of the boot is something I did a year ago. I just liked it so I thought I'd post it here :)
