2 Watercolors

Although these two watercolor sketches were done quite a while ago, they have been hiding in a drawer, so I will count them as new work. I think I would like to develop them further. The first one is a Pakistani bagpiper. The second one is an Arab man in Isreal. They were done from photographs my mom took while we were living in the Middle East.

A breakthrough for the purist...

This is my first attempt at creating a mixed media piece on the computer. I took one of my contour drawings and placed it over a scanned image of a miniature poetry book of my grandmother's. I liked the tone of the poem and the worn look of the paper and spine. The architectural element in the background is a scanned image of ironworks. I enjoy the flexibility that the computer offers and I'm really looking forward to creating more pieces like this.

A beginning...

It is Christmas Eve 2006, and in an attempt to distract myself from my little Christmas demons, I have decided to try to set up a blog for myself. So here I go...into the wild web yonder.

My goal with this blog is to share my wild doodlings and other creative ventures.

This collage is called "The Biology Lesson". It is about the rather mysterious and undeniable biology of motherhood. At thirty-one I find myself longing to clean dirty diapers and carpool. Who knew?

This lovely doodle was created on a slow day at work...Stay tuned for more...
